The rhetorical construction of Popular Front France in the fascist Italian press during the ‘Paris, 1937’ international exhibition

This article will discuss propaganda in the press used by the Italian fascist regime to create and disseminate a negative image of France and socialism. The ‘Paris, 1937’ exhibition represented a pretext for the Italian press to attack the Popular Front on both policy and competence. Manipulating information, the propaganda fabricated an idea of ‘otherness’, presenting France as the chaotic antithesis to the orderly Italian regime. France was presented as a country full of drunks and idlers, as a nation descending into chaos due to the social economic reforms of the Blum government; images that were juxtaposed with a state thriving under fascist corporatism. With the use of archive files and press-clippings, this work intends to illustrate the construction of stereotypes to feed the fear of socialism in Italy by the fascist press.  相似文献

Within the cut-throat world of newspaper advertising the newspapers of Britain's Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) Votes for Women and the Suffragette managed to achieve a balance that has often proved to be an impossible challenge for social movement press—namely the maintenance of a highly political stance whilst simultaneously exploiting the market system with advertising and merchandising. When the militant papers advocated window smashing of West End stores in 1912–1913, the companies who were the target still took advertisements. Why? What was the relationship between news values, militant violence and advertising income? ‘Do-it-yourself’ journalism operated within a context of ethical consumerism and promotionally orientated militancy. This resulted in newspaper connections between politics, commerce and a distinct market profile, evident in the customisation of advertising, retailer dialogue with militants and longer-term loyalty—symptomatic of a wider trend towards newspaper commercialism during this period.  相似文献

Objective

The research obtained information to plan data-related products and services.

Methods

Biomedical researchers in an academic medical center were selected using purposive sampling and interviewed using open-ended questions based on a literature review. Interviews were conducted until saturation was achieved.

Results

Interview responses informed library planners about researchers’ key data issues.

Conclusions

This approach proved valuable for planning data management products and services and raising library visibility among clients in the research data realm.  相似文献   

南宁市房地产业对经济发展的影响及应对措施

房地产业的运行不仅关系到国民经济的发展,还和人民群众生活息息相关。近几年来,我国很多地区房价快速飙升,远远超过了居民收入的增长,南宁市亦不例外。虽政府多有调控,但因刚需的存在,房地产价格仍只升不降。诚然,房地产能通过拉动建筑行业、金属业、家电业、金融业、建材行业等多行业的发展短期内极大的刺激经济的快速增长,但长期来说,房价的高涨挤压了人们的消费能力,不利于经济的稳健运行,同时,房价过高存在泡沫的风险,一旦泡沫破灭,经济和社会都会产生动荡。所以,政府应维持房地产的健康运行,将住房价格控制在与人均可支配收入水平相适应的程度,打击房地产投机炒作,挤出泡沫,引导房价回归理性,实现经济社会的长期稳定。  相似文献   

Identifying and removing duplicate records from systematic review searches

Objective

The purpose of this study was to compare effectiveness of different options for de-duplicating records retrieved from systematic review searches.

Methods

Using the records from a published systematic review, five de-duplication options were compared. The time taken to de-duplicate in each option and the number of false positives (were deleted but should not have been) and false negatives (should have been deleted but were not) were recorded.

Results

The time for each option varied. The number of positive and false duplicates returned from each option also varied greatly.

Conclusion

The authors recommend different de-duplication options based on the skill level of the searcher and the purpose of de-duplication efforts.  相似文献
